The biggest issue I found with the original UConn Dairy Bar branding is that it had little identity aside from being the ice cream shop of UConn. In my rebrand, I aimed to create a brand image that has a fun and lighthearted design all while retaining the core principles of the UConn Dairy Bar as place for UConn Students and Visitors to enjoy UConn ice cream.
My initial sketch was a very quick and dirty rendition of what would become the finalized logo. I toyed around with various fonts for the "DAIRY BAR" text, trying to find a balance between a rounded "cow-like" font and one with enough rigidity in it's shape as to not clash too hardly with the UConn wordmark.
For the brand guidelines and variations, I wanted to give enough flexibility in the logo and brand assets while maintaining a uniform design scheme throughout print and packaging.
